trina’s story

Hello, I’m Trina. I’m a relational, trauma-informed therapist based in Austin, Texas. I’m drawn to work that honors complexity, like the ways trauma, relationships, culture, and identity shape who we are and how we move through the world.

Before becoming a therapist, I earned a Master’s in Information Studies (library science) from The University of Texas. What I discovered in that work was simple: I care deeply about people’s stories. I’m curious about how meaning is made, how identity forms, and how systems influence our lives. Therapy felt like a natural extension of that curiosity, but in a way that allows for deeper connection and transformation.

Over the years, I’ve worked with families involved in the child welfare system, incarcerated youth, adults experiencing homelessness, and people navigating life transitions in a range of contexts from tech to nonprofit spaces. These experiences shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the impact of social and cultural forces on individual lives.

My work is grounded in an awareness of power, privilege, and systems, but it’s also grounded in something simpler: our need for connection. I’ve seen again and again that meaningful relationships — whether in families, friendships, or partnerships — are both our greatest source of joy and our greatest source of struggle.

As a therapist, I aim to offer a steady, collaborative space where we can make sense of your story with care and curiosity. You don’t have to arrive with the right words or the right framework. We can begin wherever you are.
